Camogli is a jewel of the Ligurian Riviera. There are 5 200 residents with daily peaks in July and August of 15 000 tourists bringing annual attendance to more than 200 000.
They have a similar situation to Elafonisos… a little bigger, but with the same problem: managing the attendance increase during the summer period.
For more than ten years, Camogli has been on the path of sustainable development… and the results are visible.
The tourist “bite and flee” is no longer the basis of Camogli tourism. The season, despite peaking in July and August, now extends for most of the year and visitors are increasingly attentive to the ecological approach and environmental protection.
I was lucky to be able to interview Tino Revello Counselor for the environment of the Camogli Municipality.
The Revello family has been, for more than half a century, an icon in the entire Ligurian area for the production of the famous Genoese focaccia.
Mr Revello was the promoter of the SUSTAINABLE CAMOGLI project that gave a greater boost to Camogli’s name towards environmental sustainability.
